The Cyber Police Department of Ukraine suspended activities of four major online cinemas: kinogo.co.ua, uafilm.top, ukrfilm.top, kino-hd.top.
The sites hosted pirated content. The total daily audience of these sites exceeded 100 thousand users.
The administration of the sites involved two residents of the Dnipropetrovsk region, Ukraine. They earned a few thousand dollars monthly by showing ads on these sites.
The police conducted searches at the place of administration of web resources, as well as at the addresses of the intruders.
According to the results of searches, the computer equipment was seized and sent for examination.
Criminal proceedings under Art. 176 (infringement of copyright and related rights) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine has been started. Suspects could face a fine or imprisonment up to six years.
