On February 27, 2024, the order of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine “On the approval of the Regulation on the Commission for granting permission to use the official name and international letter code of the state of Ukraine in a trademark and/or to include in the trademark image an imitation of the small State Coat of Arms of Ukraine” entered into force.
This order creates legal conditions for the start of the activity of the “Ukraine” Commission, whose work will contribute to the protection of national symbols and ensure compliance with the use of official symbols of the state for commercial purposes.
The novelty of the order was that not only citizens but also legal entities created under the procedure established by the legislation of Ukraine will now be able to exercise their right to use in trademarks the official name and international letter code of the state of Ukraine and/or to include in the image of an imitation trademark small State Coat of Arms of Ukraine. For the first time, applicants have the opportunity to obtain permission to include in the trademark image an imitation of the small State Coat of Arms of Ukraine by applying to this Commission.
