At the end of 2019, the transition period for Ukraine according to the Association Agreement with the European Union ended – the Chamber of Commerce of Ukraine ceased issuing export certificates for drinks under the designations ‘cognac’, ‘champagne’, ‘armagnac’, ‘grappa’, ‘brandy de jerez’.

From now on, Ukraine will export sparkling wine and brandy, in accordance with the codes of classification of foreign economic activity.

At the same time, the transition period for the use of protected European geographical indications by Ukrainian manufacturers in the domestic market will last until the end of 2025.

Nowadays, Ukrainian producers are choosing a new name for cognac made in Ukraine.
