From April 1, 2023, changes to the legislation of Ukraine regarding the possibility of conducting business activities as an electronic resident will enter into force.

The status of e-resident can be obtained by foreigners who have turned 18 years old, except for those who have the right to permanent residence in Ukraine or are tax residents of Ukraine, or are stateless persons.

However, later the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine will determine the list of states whose citizens or residents can acquire e-residency.

To become an e-resident, one will be needed to register with the state electronic service and pass a financial and security check.

In case of a positive decision, the foreigner becomes an e-resident and receives an EDS (electronic digital signature) for opening a remote bank account, which will become a tax agent for the e-resident.

At the first stage of project implementation, the e-resident status will provide only one option – to register as an individual entrepreneur.

A foreigner will have the right to work and pay tax — 5% of income within the limit and 15% in case of exceeding the income limit (today it is UAH 7.586 million).
