The Almaty Department of Justice, acting jointly with the city’s Police Department (Cyberpol), conducted inspections that resulted in the seizure of thousands of counterfeit goods bearing the trademarks of Louis Vuitton and Nesquik.
During an inspection into the illegal use of the Nesquik trademark, authorities found that products bearing designations that were confusingly similar to the registered trademark were being sold across the city. Over 2,000 units of counterfeit goods were removed from circulation.
A separate unscheduled inspection uncovered illegal use of the Louis Vuitton trademark. The seized products were of poor quality and were being sold in violation of applicable legislation. Hundreds of units were confiscated.
Administrative protocols have been drawn up for the identified violations, and the materials have been referred to court for prosecution. The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan emphasized that the enforcement actions are aimed at ensuring fair competition, protecting rights holders, and preventing the circulation of potentially unsafe goods.
This is not an isolated incident. According to Mazhilis deputy Marhabbat Zhayimbetov, the volume of counterfeit goods seized in Kazakhstan in 2025 increased tenfold compared to 2024.
