On January 12, 2019, the Agreement on the formation and development of the intellectual property market of the CIS member states will enter into force for Belarus. The document was signed in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on June 1, 2018.

The agreement should create conditions for the formation and development of the intellectual property market by improving legislation, building a system for assessing the value of intellectual property rights using world experience, legal, financial and organizational mechanisms for commercialization and other use of intellectual property.

It is expected that the provisions of the Agreement will reduce technological backwardness and increase competitiveness due to the wide use of scientific and technical developments, including high technologies.

The Member States should ensure the exchange of open legal, scientific, technical, patent and other information between participants of the intellectual property market in accordance with the laws of the participating States.

The coordinator of the countries’ interaction on the implementation of the provisions of the Agreement is the Interstate Council on the Legal Protection and Protection of Intellectual Property.
