Infringement of intellectual property rights and unauthorized use of the brand will be subject to stricter penalties in Kyrgyzstan. Such a bill was adopted by the parliament.
According to the bill, if the brand is used illegally several times and major damage is caused, a fine of 100 thousand to 1.5 million Kyrgystani Som (1100-17100 USD) and imprisonment of 2 to 5 years will be imposed.
During 2022-2023 Kyrgyzpatent received 39 applications for infringement of intellectual property rights. On their basis, 13 decreed and imposed fines totaling 117.5 thousand Kyrgystani Som (1400 USD) were issued.
