At the end of February 2024, Azerbaijan made its first register of intellectual property objects publicly available – patents for inventions became the first object.
The register is available online to all persons at no additional charge for searching and obtaining information from it.
The service interface is currently available in Azerbaijani and Russian languages.
The search is possible by parameters: application number / international application number, registration number / international registration number, name of the invention, details of the owner / applicant / inventor of the patent, priority data, and date of publication of the international application.
The next stage will be the expansion of the register to other objects of intellectual property — industrial designs, utility models, and trademarks.
In 2023, the Intellectual Property Agency of Azerbaijan (COPAT) received 201 applications for patents for inventions, which is 11% more than in 2022. The average time for examination of applications was 8-9 months.
Also, Azerbaijan is a member country of the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO).
