On June 18, 2024, the personal composition of the Appeals Chamber of the IP Office approved by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine was approved. The Appeals Chamber included 40 specialists in the field of intellectual property law.
After that, the organizational and legal measures necessary for the distribution of cases, the formation of the composition of the boards, and the start of consideration of the merits of the appeal cases and the cases that will be received were started.
Thanks to the resumption of the work of the Appeals Chamber, applicants and rights holders will be able to resolve disputes much more quickly, without the need to go to court.
Currently, 186 cases are pending in the Appeals Chamber:
- 5 objections to decisions on applications for inventions;
- 57 objections to decisions on trademark applications filed by other persons;
- 95 objections to decisions on trademark applications filed by the applicants;
- 5 appellate statements on the invalidation of patents for inventions (utility models) in whole or in part;
- 3 appellate statements on the invalidation of industrial design patents in whole or in part;
- 21 applications for recognition of a trademark as well-known in Ukraine.
