The Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) has launched a prototype register of patents for pharmacologically active substances in a demo version.
In test mode, it is already possible to apply for the entry of the patents in the register through your personal account on the website of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS).
The prototype is not the final version of the registry, and the exact launch date of the registry has not yet been determined.
Rospatent developed a prototype registry in April 2021. It is created in order to provide interested parties with reliable information on the patent protection of medicines and to prevent unfair practices associated with the entry of generics into the market before the expiration of the patent for the original medicine.
Also, the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) launched its own pharmaceutical register of patents in March 2021. The submitting of patents in the register takes place on a voluntary basis by filing an application.
