Despite challenging conditions and the ongoing war, Ukraine’s intellectual property system continues to demonstrate gradual recovery and development.

Industrial Property

Throughout 2025, businesses and the inventive community maintained a steady interest in the protection of intellectual assets. The total number of applications filed for industrial property objects reached 32,386, representing a 3.8% increase compared to the previous year.

The breakdown by category is as follows:

  • inventions – 2,620 applications (+2.4%);
  • utility models – 4,032 (+7.5%);
  • industrial designs – 1,029 (-2.8%);
  • trademarks – 24,704 (+3.7%).

In addition, one application for a semiconductor topography was filed in 2025.

As for registrations, a positive trend was observed across most categories:

  • inventions – 1,224 registrations (-3.0%);
  • utility models – 3,718 (+17.1%);
  • industrial designs – 1,099 (+20.6%);
  • trademarks – 20,281 (+37.6%).

Additionally, one geographical indication and three semiconductor topographies were registered during the year.

Copyright

The copyright sector also recorded increased applicant activity. In 2025, the number of applications for state registration of copyright in works grew by 6.3%, reaching 11,205. The number of applications for registration of agreements concerning authors’ economic rights also increased by 0.7%.

At the same time, the number of completed registrations slightly declined. This is attributable to amendments to the Procedure for State Registration of Copyright and related agreements, aimed at refining procedural aspects. In particular:

  • 9,105 copyrights were registered (-8.9%);
  • 319 agreements were registered (-23.3%).
