On August 21, 2024, the Parliament of Ukraine supported a draft law prohibiting the placement of advertising information on medicine packages.
From now on, manufacturers of medicinal products will not be able to place on the outer and inner packaging information about unsubstantiated advantages of the drug and other data that will contribute to its promotion on the market.
The requirement also applies to information about legal entities or individuals who are not manufacturers or owners of the drug registration certificate.
Such innovations are justified by the fact that such information misleads consumers of medicinal products and promotes the promotion of certain entities of economic activity, which is contrary to the rules of fair competition.
In case of violation of this rule, the Ministry of Health may temporarily stop the registration of the medicinal product until the non-compliance is eliminated.
Changes to the Law “On Medicinal Products” will enter into force four months after they come into force.
