On the very first day of the entry into force of amendments to the law On Information, Information Technology and Information Protection Sony Music Entertainment, S.B.A. Music Publishing and Universal Music have filed a lawsuit in the Moscow City Court against Apple Inc.

The lawsuit states the requirement for the court to take preliminary interim measures against pirated content in mobile applications. This about the distribution of illegal compositions by Eljay, Svetlana Loboda, Maruv, and Artur Pirozhkov in the applications “Music offline music download”, PewPee, and “iMus – music player”.

No property claims have been declared.

The Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor), in case of interim measures, will have to require the owner of the application store to notify the owner of the application itself of the copyright infringement. He will be obliged to restrict access to pirated content. And if the owner of the application does not restrict access during one day, the store will block it. If the store does not do this, the blocking functions will pass to the telecom operators.
