Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on October 19, 2020, at a meeting of the Foreign Investment Advisory Council, said that Russia intends to develop a register of pharmacologically active compounds protected by patent.

According to the head of government, this decision was dictated by requests from foreign investors and should help protect property rights for patented drugs. The Prime Minister noted that during the meeting, proposals were also made on other issues: on the registration of medical goods and the introduction of innovative methods of treatment in medical practice. They were also included in the list of instructions approved by Mishustin.

The government also instructed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to deepen the integration of traceability and product labeling systems.
