Since October 1, 2020, mandatory digital marking has become mandatory for a larger list of products – also for perfumes, toilet water, cameras, photo flashes, and flash lamps.
Accordingly, sellers and resellers of such goods must have equipment for reading 3D encoding. A unique digital Data Matrix code is applied to each package of goods, which allows to check the originality of the goods and track its entire path – from the manufacturer/import into the territory of the Russian Federation to the retail store.
Cameras purchased before October 1 but imported into Russia after this date, should be marked before October 31, 2020. It is necessary to sell unmarked perfume shelf stocks by September 30, 2021.
Previously, digital labeling became mandatory for medicines and tobacco products, footwear, and natural fur products. By 2024, it is planned to make labeling mandatory for all goods.
