Since December 1, 2019, the list of goods that are subject to mandatory digital marking has expanded in Russia – to the list were added perfumes, car tires, cameras and flashes, as well as outerwear and bedding.

Prior to this, these product groups were marked in test mode.

Earlier in 2019, marking became mandatory for cigarettes, certain types of medicines, shoes and natural fur products.

By mid-2020, mandatory marking with two-dimensional code will become mandatory for finished dairy products, bicycles, wheelchairs and all types of tobacco products. Until 2024, it is planned to make digital marking mandatory for all goods.

According to the rules, a unique digital Data Matrix code is applied to each package of goods, which allows to check the legality of the drug and notify authorities of suspicious specimens, and track the entire path of the goods – from the manufacturer/import to the territory of the Russian Federation to the outlet.
