The Commission of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia has recognized that advertising of the drug “Theraflex Chondrocream Forte” violates the law on advertising.
In a commercial that was broadcast on Russian TV in the summer of 2020, it was reported that Teraflex cream not only relieves joint pain but also strengthens the knees. This was illustrated by an anatomical demonstration of an inflamed knee. The damaged cartilage tissue in the knee joint was restored under the action of the cream until the defects almost completely disappeared.
As emphasized in the FAS, the advertiser in such a way created the impression of guaranteed effectiveness of the drug. The law on advertising prohibits guaranteeing the positive effect of medicines.
FAS ordered the pharmaceutical manufacturer to stop the violations. The company also faces a fine of up to 500 thousand rubles ($6.3 thousand).
Recently, this is the second violation of the law on advertising by the Russian office of Bayer – a month earlier, the company incorrectly used comparison with other drugs to promote Supradin vitamins.
